Our client, a start-up Marketing business in LA with offices in NYC and London are recruiting for an experienced Financial Controller to join them.

The business is in an exciting period of change and has offices based in NYC and London.

As the Financial Controller you will be responsible for working with senior stakeholders on the strategic development, management accounts and other reporting requirements for the US function.

Managing a small finance team in LA and working closely with the Finance Controller based in the UK, this will give you the opportunity to be an integral part of the growth of our client in the U.S.

As well as the normal day-to-day responsibilities, you will have the chance to help with the strategy of the company and understand the impact this will have on the company.


Core Duties:

  • Oversee day to day running of finance function along with managing a small team of staff members
  • Management accounts and board packs preparation – to be done from final Trial Balance into excel reporting
  • Income recognition from fees, job estimates as well as job closes
  • Variance analysis and commentary
  • Balance sheet forecasting
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Client job reconciliations
  • Cashflow reporting and forecasting from the balance sheet & profit & loss
  • Working with the business leads to reforecast every month, mainly income and staffing
  • Overseeing US payroll and feeding into UK payroll
  • Overseeing and approving trading cashflow
  • Training new joiners on Paprika (finance and non finance staff)
  • Ensuring company compliance with US client contracts
  • New business pipeline management, ensuring staff updating and finance tracking of pipeline projects, feeding this into reforecast and cashflow
  • US tax compliance – sending necessary information to US advisors and dealing with outcomes, ensuring prompt filing and payments for payroll taxes, state and federal taxes


Ideally you will be a Qualified Accountant with at least 2 years minimum experience working in a previous Marketing / Production background and within a similar role along with advanced Excel (experience dealing with large volumes of transactional data and efficiently manipulating spread sheets) and previous Paprika experience
