Role: Controller

Location: New York / Hybrid

We are seeking a Controller to join a rapidly growing marketing agency and lead the accounting function during a key stage of growth and expansion. This role will oversee end-to-end accounting operations, build scalable financial infrastructure, and partner closely with senior leadership to support strategic decision-making across the organization.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in strengthening financial processes, ensuring compliance, and supporting the continued development of a best-in-class finance function within a high-growth environment.

Reporting Line: VP Finance

Key Responsibilities

  • Own all aspects of accounting operations and lead the monthly close process under US GAAP.
  • Design and implement scalable accounting systems, workflows, and internal controls.
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements and manage external audit processes.
  • Partner with senior finance leadership to deliver financial insights supporting operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements.
  • Oversee multi-entity accounting structures and intercompany accounting processes.
  • Drive automation and process improvement initiatives across accounting and finance workflows.
  • Support the continued development and scaling of the finance infrastructure.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operational, technical, and leadership teams to improve financial visibility and reporting accuracy.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, compliance, and financial governance.

Qualifications & Experience

  • CPA qualification required with strong technical accounting expertise under US GAAP.
  • Prior audit background strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing full-cycle accounting and monthly close processes.
  • Familiarity with multi-entity accounting structures and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Strong ERP systems knowledge; experience with modern finance systems and automation tools preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience building or improving finance functions within scaling organizations.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional stakeholder management abilities.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy and process integrity.
