Assistant Accountant

Our client a world leading independent advertising platform with offices based in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia has an opening for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their finance team in Sydney.

Ideally you will be a self-starter who can recognise where processes can be improved and who will take the initiative to improve them who can perform flawlessly and professionally in a fast-paced environment – along with the grace and willingness to change direction when circumstances demand. You’ll be expected to demonstrate strong business judgment, professional etiquette and organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Core Duties:

  • Prepare and Processing of month end reporting up to the trial balance stage
  • Process accruals, prepayments, journal entries, foreign currency payments, and amortization & depreciation
  • Reconcile the general ledger, balance sheet, FAR and bank accounts
  • Prepare recurring tax related items: FBT, BAS, IAS, tax return
  • Assist in the periodic and year end audit
  • Assist with AR/AP and payroll
  • Other financial ad-hoc duties as and when assigned by management
  • Assist the weekly business revenue meeting with revenue leads and monitor sales progress vs budget, quota
  • Take ownership and lead in any systems rollout by global (i.e. Salesforce)
  • Participate and lead in annual/quarterly BU AOP Planning and tracking
  • Key Stakeholders
  • Internal: Australia Leadership Team, Sales Operations, Finance, HR
  • External: Auditors, Vendors, Customers

Desired Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 2 years accounting or finance experience
  • Knowledge of accounting software essential
  • Experience in forecasting and analysis is a plus
  • The ability to think strategically and implement methods to ensure procedures are completed at the highest standard
  • Able to build solid internal and external relationships at all levels
  • Must possess a desire to take on tough and challenging projects with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint a must
  • Proficiency in Tableau, a BI solution, and SQL is an advantage
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and managing multiple projects
  • Expectation of complete confidentiality on all business matters
  • Responds well to challenge and change
