EMEA Finance Director

Our client a, fast growing international sports marketing and media group based near to Holborn, has an exciting opening for an experienced Finance Director to join their team.

As the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for providing financial and management services to ensure an efficient, accurate and timely financial and management accounting function. Delivering an excellent standard of client service, compliance with external regulatory and reporting obligations, internal management reporting processes and deadlines. Providing financial controls and accounting oversight and direction to overseas affiliates.

Core Duties

  • Management of EMEA accounting operations, oversees all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, cash accounting, payroll, tax compliance and financial reporting.
  • Ownership of EMEA consolidation reporting ensuring monthly deadlines achieved and full reconciliations provided.
  • Ownership of the statutory reporting books and associated reconciliations.
  • Follow structured monthly close and reconciliation review process in order to complete a month-end close within five business days.
  • Preparation of monthly management reporting adhering to month end deadlines.
  • Lead role in evaluating, developing, implementing and documenting new accounting policies and procedures to respond to changes in GAAP, tax and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage relationships with third party accountants and financial advisors.
  • Coordinates and manages the annual group, UK and EMEA audits ensuring deadlines are achieved and a high standard of working papers and supporting documentation provided.
  • Oversees a weekly cash reconciliation and planning process across multiple bank accounts and currencies.
  • Ensure full compliance for tax, VAT and other relevant taxes in the EMEA region.
  • Manages accounting integration of acquisitions and/or new business ventures and quickly establish robust financial controls and align to group accounting policies.
  • Review company payroll processing to ensure accuracy and proper compliance.
  • Maintain strong financial controls and escalate issues appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Management of accounting staff to ensure deadlines are met, records are accurate and controls remain intact.
  • Promotes a supportive team environment and provides work direction and guidance including coaching, professional development and training. Monitors and analyzes team work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Identify potential process efficiencies & contribute towards a high standard, continuous improvement culture.
  • Develop super-user expertise for the company global accounting software, Workday and uses system capabilities to streamline and improve processes.
  • Ad hoc tasks and projects as required.

Ideal skills and experience

  • Ideally you will have a minimum 7+ years PQE with a recognised professional qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA), with 4+ years at management accountant level.
  • Previous experience of managing and supervising an accounting team, including setting objectives and conducting annual appraisals is also essential.
  • Strong Excel skills (Pivot tables & VLOOKUPs.)
  • Experience of working within a previous marketing / creative / lifestyle agency would be a plus
  • Previous exposure to Workday ERP would be an advantage
