Finance Manager

An opportunity has arisen for an all-round, hands on Finance Manager to join an international media company, based in their Sydney office. Working closely with the Finance Director and Group FP&A Manager you will be responsible for planning/forecasting, organise, control, and provide direction and coordination to the finance department


People Management

  • Supervision and direction of 1 x Financial Accountant and 1.5 x Assistant Accountants

Commercial Support

  • Providing financial insight to Agency Client Leads, State GM’s and Finance Director
  • Preparing Client Profitability analytics, deep dive analysis of individual office financial performance on an on-going basis and maintenance/enhancement of the monthly dashboards
  • Review revenue accruals for accuracy and completeness

Budgets and Forecasts

  • Ensuring that Budgets and Forecasts are accurate and realistic and prepared in a timely manner, with monthly updates throughout the year
  • Delivering long range profit forecasts, budgeting and financial reporting
  • Working closely with Client Leads to reforecast revenue and expenses and ensure targets are met

Balance Sheet

  • Ensuring that all assets and liabilities are fairly stated
  • Ensuring that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis
  • Reviewing receivables to ensure they remain current and any overdue balances are addressed promptly with assistance with the assistance of the shared service team (SSC)

Treasury and Cashflow

Maximising working capital and available cashflow

Ensuring ensuring that credit limits are established for every client and adhered to on an ongoing basis

Financial Reporting

  • Accurate and timely reporting of financial results
  • Ensuring the financial statements are drawn up in accordance with US GAAP
  • Identification of any emerging issues at an early stage
  • Management of global reporting requirements
  • Ensuring that WIP jobs are reconciled and cleared in a timely manner

Internal Processes and Controls

  • Ensuring that the business remains SOX-compliant
  • Managing the external audit relationship
  • Managing internal audits and SOX examinations
  • Ensuring compliance with other financial legislation and standards

Financial Systems

  • Having a good understanding of our financial systems, their features, their functionality and their limitations
  • Ensuring that financial systems are adequate for the needs of the business and are functioning as intended
  • Ensuring that internal processes are efficient and working effectively, and are adapted as necessary to take into account changes in the business as new services are developed


  • Timely reporting of financial information – including actuals, budgets and forecasts
  • Accuracy of budgets and forecasts
  • Commercial support to Client Leads/State GM’s and Finance Director
