Our client is a global digital production agency that provide world-class production services for their clients by bringing great ideas to life through creative content is recruiting for a Commercial Finance Manager to join their team on maternity cover contract until January 2025. The role will be hybrid with 3 days in the Central London office and two working from home.

Reporting to the FD and managing one person you will be tasked with the following duties:


  • Lead commercial support to the agency, offering solutions to a variety of business challenges
  • Coordinate and lead monthly commercial finance meetings with support from the Finance Director
  • Understand the agency’s contractual obligations to its clients
  • Be proactive in pushing the business forward and constantly look for new ways to improve processes and procedures
  • Work with Finance Director to provide regular commercial training to the agency
  • Produce Monthly reporting pack for Senior Stakeholders


  • Prepare Budget & Flash submissions with support from Finance Director.
  • Responsible for ensuring profit margin is maintained in line with forecast.
  • Lead the freelance forecast process ensuring use of freelance resource is kept to a minimum
  • Work closely with the Management Accounts Team & Finance Director to manage costs to the business.


  • Support client service to ensure challenging but realistic revenue budgets and forecasts are produced
  • Thereafter regularly (at least twice monthly) monitor, review and update in conjunction with client account leads, proactively highlighting early warnings to potential variance to forecasts
  • Ensure correct and timely accounting of revenue recognition
  • Support the Revenue Analyst in collating and filing appropriate audit evidence to support revenue recognition in accordance with internal policies and standards

Recovery, Utilisation & Profitability

  • Lead the monitoring and reporting of client/job recoverability of time against estimates
  • Monitor utilisation & activity levels of agency staff with appropriate management to identify areas for improvement / where additional support is required
  • Lead in highlighting jobs expected to over-burn and develop a plan with the agency to provide solutions and mitigate
  • Prepare monthly Client profitability analysis and discuss results with the relevant teams
  • Support the Revenue Analyst in ensuring that all employees are completing their timesheets in a timely manner
