Financial Accountant
Our client, a leading player in Australia’s out-of-home advertising industry, is seeking a Financial Accountant with expertise in IFRS16 and audit to join their team. This is a permanent full-time opportunity based in Sydney. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with IFRS16 standards, preparing financial statements, and contributing to both monthly and annual statutory reporting. You will need a strong grasp of accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and the ability to handle complex and varied datasets.
Key Responsibilities:
- IFRS16 Compliance: Manage the implementation and ongoing adherence to IFRS16 standards. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of lease-related financial data.
- Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare, review, and analyze financial information to produce accurate financial statements, including consolidated balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Monthly Reporting: Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts. Contribute to financial forecasting, budgeting, and provide variance analysis against budgets and previous periods.
- Statutory Accounting: Ensure full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Prepare statutory financial statements and liaise with external auditors to support the audit process and address any queries.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for streamlining financial reporting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with finance team members to maintain consistency in reporting. Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reports as needed.
Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline, along with a CA/CPA/CIMA qualification.
- Experience in external reporting, ideally within a Big 4 firm or a large ASX-listed company.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Comprehensive knowledge of IFRS16 and its practical application.
- Ability to work effectively with complex and diverse datasets.
