Senior Accountant

Our client is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to join their New York office. This role sits within the Finance Team, a critical hub of analysis and operational excellence that includes Accounting, FP&A, and Corporate Development.
Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in financial operations, including monthly closings, expense management, payables, banking, and general accounting support. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to work within a collaborative team while engaging with cross-functional partners across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead aspects of the month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, intercompany entries, account reconciliations, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and accruals.
- Conduct monthly variance analyses, comparing actual results to previous periods and budget forecasts.
- Oversee specialized revenue stream processes to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Assist with local U.S. and global audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Support global tax payment processing and filings.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation of accounting processes, including policies and procedures, collaborating with other teams as needed.
- Contribute to global expansion projects and other ad hoc accounting initiatives.
- Continuously improve existing processes, strengthen internal controls, and take ownership of special projects as an individual or as part of a team.
What We’re Looking For
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience: 3–5 years of experience in accounting, with a preference for experience in start-up environments.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups) and NetSuite accounting software.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of finance principles and reporting practices.
