Our client, a market leader in providing specialist media production services to advertising agencies, has an opening for an Senior Financial Accountant to join their Sydney finance team. Reporting to the Global CFO, the Senior Financial Accountant will work closely with senior management to increase the company’s efficiency and profitability by assisting with the formulation of both the medium and long-term financial plan.

Key Responsibilities:

This is a unique opportunity to work within a supportive group finance team based in Sydney whilst taking responsibility for the financial operations of the groups USA based division. This role will require flexibility in the working hours (specifically early morning starts), given continuous collaboration with our New York office, and government bodies in the USA is required.

Other specific responsibilities will include:

  • Work with Business Regional heads to build their annual budgets and forecasts
  • Analyzing US financial and operational results to better understand the Group performance
  • Communicate to senior management the reasons behind the product/department performance and results
  • Communicating results and recommendations to senior management for improvements that will lead to cost reduction, revenue generation and streamlining operations
  • Provide insights to senior management around financial modelling, forecasts and profitability
  • Oversee the statutory reporting process, support financial accountants in preparation and co-ordinate audit requirements
  • Ability to coach and support other finance team members
  • Undertaking of US tax requirements including but not limited to (income, sales, use, withholding etc.). Candidates must possess a strong understanding of deferred tax accounting (knowledge of the USA tax system will be advantageous, but not essential).
  • Liaise with all government bodies on Federal, State & City levels
  • Liaise with auditors, banking institutions, tax accountants
  • Collaborate with overseas finance teams to prepare group wide analytics on an adhoc basis
  • Support divisional managers with timely financial analysis, pricing of service, contract review to assist with proposals
  • Oversee local roll-out of financial ERP, and financial integration with production software
  • Insurance management (Preparations etc.)

Ideal candidate has:

You must have qualifications (CA/CPA). Suitable candidates will have either big 4/mid-tier firm experience or an industry background with experience in the above areas.

Candidates must also have previous experience in the nuances of USA finances (e.g. tax, banking, insurance, SOX etc.).

This role will be hybrid-based with a balance of office work and working from home.
