Financial Controller

Our client, a global creative company with offices in Los Angeles, New York, Sydney and Amsterdam, has an exciting new opening for an experienced Financial Controller to join their team based in LA.

Reporting into the CFO, the Controller would be primarily responsible for the following:

  • Accountable for all accounting operations including Corp Cards, Payroll, Billing, A/P, Revenue Recognition, General Ledger
  • Coordinate with CFO and accountable for month-end, quarter end and year-end close timing and process
  • Co-lead with CFO on financial statement submission and annual external audit 
  • Prepare, close and publish timely monthly financial statements
  • Accountability of quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Help the CFO Prepare business operational budgets for global businesses 
  • Prepare management P&L monthly and report variances to CFO for Management Presentation
  • Assist CFO in preparation of Management Reporting and ad hoc commercial analysis 
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings for US and global offices
  • Coordinate and manage external global tax advisory teams
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Monitor & Forecast cash flow to meet the organization’s needs
  • Manage, mentor and develop Accounting team (Snr Staff, Staff, AP, AR and Payroll); manage work allocation, coach and train, collaboratively problem-solve, conduct regular performance evaluations, and support an effective team dynamic
  • Ad-hoc projects as requested

The ideal candidate will be a positive, self-motivated individual with strong problem-solving skills. In order to be considered, this person must meet the following criteria:

  • Experience in advertising, media or production preferred
  • Proven working experience as a controller in a dynamic and fast paced business environment
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, SOX exposure preference 
  • Netsuite experience preferred 
  • 8+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA / CA preferred
  • Highly motivated; excellent verbal/written communication
  • Ability to meet deadlines quickly and accurately, multi-task and work well under pressure with changing priorities
  • MS Excel modeling, analysis, and reporting skills should be at the highest level
  • Demonstrates impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail
  • A strong foundation in maintaining policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure the integrity of financials.
  • Maintain an environment of excellence and a “can do” culture
